Railroad bonds, 1856-1863.

The series contains copies of the railroad bonds issued by the Trustees of the Internal Improvement Fund from 1856 to 1863 which were required by law to be recorded in the Office of the Comptroller. The bond copies for the Pensacola and Georgia Railroad, the Florida Atlantic and Gulf Central Railroad, and the Florida Rail Road contain the following information: the bond number; the name of the purchaser; the number of coupons attached to the original bond; the signature of the Internal Improvement Board; plus certification that the bonds were recorded in the Comptroller's Office. The Tallahassee Rail-Road bonds contain the same information except for the purchaser's name. On the back of all the bonds is recorded the date of the bond's destruction.
